A story of female daring, of glamour, of desires and passions... and how a long-lost love can be found several generations later... One May morning in 1664, four boys galloped into the village of Versailles on horseback. The dark purple and emerald green feathers of their hats fluttered behind them, and the squawking geese fled before them on all sides. "We should have gotten here hours ago," Augustine Roussier shouted to his companions and tightened the horse's reins so that it reared up on its hind legs, stopping it to survey the heated setting. “From what I can see, all the lodgings are probably already taken.” The deeply staked streets teemed with dignitaries on horseback and in carriages, who in this country setting did not feel at home in Paris, where most of them came from. . The sun glistened on the gilt of the carriages and horse gear, and the dust of hooves and wheels rose in the warm air. Six hundred members of the nobility were invited to the first great celebration to be held in the surrounding hunting palace, which was very small and could only accommodate a small number of kings and special guests.
