Diabetes

Diabetes is a metabolic, chronic disease in which there is an increase in the level of glucose (sugar) in the blood. The increased level of sugar leads to numerous complications, on the macro and micro level in the body, thereby significantly reducing the quality of life. Thus, for example, the process of atherosclerosis accelerates, thereby increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack, stroke, and the closing of the arteries, especially in the legs. Complications at the micro level are damage to vision, kidneys and nerves. Impaired sense of touch, reduced pain recognition and changes in perspiration (sweating) lead to an increased risk of foot ulcers which in turn can lead to infections and the need for amputation.
