CARDIOL Cardiol is a nutritional supplement based on konjac glucomannan and red fermented rice, which contributes to maintaining normal cholesterol concentrations in the blood. What is cholesterol? Cholesterol is a type of lipid that the body creates in the liver and is ingested with food. It is a natural component in the blood, but only in certain physiological concentrations. Increased concentrations of cholesterol in the blood are dangerous for health and is one of the risk factors for heart and blood vessel diseases, heart attack and stroke. Composition One sachet contains: dry root extract of Amorphophallus konjac K. Koch, ssp. Amorphophallus japonica, standardized to 96% fiber, 2.00 g and dry red rice extract, corresponding to a dose of 5 mg monacolin K. Other ingredients: glucose monohydrate, acidity regulators: sodium bicarbonate and citric acid, aroma, anti-caking agent: magnesium oxide, sweetener: stevia glycosides. What is LuraLean® (Amorphophallus japonica root extract)? LuraLean® is a highly purified natural dietary fiber, glucomannan, with high fluid, fat and cholesterol binding power. It is a concentrated source of dietary fiber. The mechanism of action of glucomannan is due to the fact that in the presence of water it swells, forming a gel structure. In this way, LuraLean® reduces the intestinal resorption of cholesterol and stimulates its transformation into bile acids, which are then excreted from the body. What is red rice? Red rice is obtained by a rice fermentation process using the yeast Monascus purpureus. Red rice is traditionally used in China and Asia as a food and herbal medicine. What is Monacolin K from Red Rice Extract? Monacolin K is a natural inhibitor of hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductases, enzymes that control cholesterol synthesis in the liver. It belongs to the group of compounds known as monacolins. Of the 15 types of monacolins, red rice is dominated by monacolin K, also known as mevinolin or lovastatin. This substance is key to the action of red rice to reduce the concentrations of total cholesterol, "bad" LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Action - Monacolin K from red rice contributes to maintaining normal concentrations of LDL-cholesterol in the blood. - Konjac glucomannan contributes to maintaining normal cholesterol concentrations in the blood. - Konjac glucomannan in the context of an energy-restrictive diet contributes to weight loss. The action is achieved by daily intake of 10 mg of monacolin K from red rice and 4 g of konjac glucomannan. Purpose Kardiol is intended for adults with increased cholesterol concentrations. How is Kardiol used? Before a meal, mix the contents of 1 sachet of powder in a minimum of 200-250 ml of water and drink the liquid for up to 2 minutes, because then it turns into a gel structure. Recommended daily dose is 2 sachets per day. Do not use nutritional supplements as a substitute for food. For additional information, contact your pharmacist or doctor. Warnings and side effects Do not use Cardiol if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients. It is not recommended for children, pregnant and lactating women, as well as for people who have difficulty swallowing. Oral medications should be taken 1 hour before or 4 hours after taking glucomannan. If you are taking any medication or have any health problem, consult your doctor before use. It is not recommended in active liver diseases and constantly increased concentrations of serum aminotransferases. Do not use together with fat-lowering drugs. Do not use with grapefruit juice. If the recommended amounts of water are not taken in, there is a risk of suffocation. A myopathy is possible which manifests as muscle pain, tenderness or weakness with an increased concentration of creatine kinases.
