A dead, nameless woman is brought into the morgue of Dr. Maura Isles. It's just another body until the doctor notices that the corpse is opening its eyes. The woman comes back to life, all scared and confused, and is rushed to the hospital. But there she kills the security guard and takes hostages, one of whom is pregnant, detective Jane Rizzoli, who has just given birth. As the tense hours pass, Dr. Mora, along with Jane's husband, FBI agent Gabriel Dean, tries to uncover the identity of the killer. This case is much more complicated than a simple hostage situation, and Jane is the only one who holds the keys to the mystery and is held captive by an armed madwoman.
