Information about Isla-Nane Iceland lichen Iceland lichen is a plant from the 17th century that has been used in folk medicine under various names. It occurs in barren soils in lowland and mountain massifs in northern, central and eastern Europe, as well as in North America. Icelandic lichen belongs to the family of lichens (Parmeliaceae) which represent a combination of mushrooms and algae that live in symbiosis (permanent coexistence, beneficial for both species). Icelandic lichen is bush-like, about 10 cm tall, and branches into curly "leaves", decreasing in size. It is brown to olive-green on the upper surface and with white-gray spots on the lower surface. Protect the mucous membrane Every day, the body's defenses are put to the test by the breathless air we breathe. The mucous membrane of the airways is the first barrier that blocks these microorganisms. If it is irritated and inflamed, for example from dry air (when using heating or air conditioning devices), smog, smoking or other factors, microorganisms can more easily enter our body. This can lead to irritation of the upper respiratory tract, dry cough and sore throat. Relief of dry cough and hoarse voice Mucins, the substances contained in Icelandic lichen, cover the mucous membrane of the throat as a protective film. This protects it from dry and polluted air. The irritated mucosa recovers faster and regains its protective function. Isla-Nane What does Isla-Nane contain? 1 lozenge contains: 80 mg aqueous extract of Icelandic lichen (Lichni Islandici extractum liquidum) (0.4-0.8: 1). Other ingredients: acacia, sorbitol, light liquid paraffin, aspartame, chlorophyll honey complex (colorant E141), peppermint oil, purified water. 1 lozenge contains 392 mg of sorbitol (sweetener) = 0.031 BU (baking units). What is Isla-Nane used for? The ingredients in Isla-Nane form a protective layer on the respiratory mucosa. In this way, the inflamed mucosa is protected and regenerates faster. The beneficial effect of lozenges is particularly noted in complaints related to the throat caused by: dry cough and hoarse voice; vocal cord fatigue (singers); dry air (heating devices or air conditioners); dry mouth; restricted breathing through the nose. How to use isla mint? Adults and children over 4 years old, 1-2 lozenges are sucked slowly several times during the day as needed. If necessary, lozenges can be used for a longer period of time, but if you do not notice an improvement after 10 days, consult a doctor or pharmacist:
