An unidentified female body arrives at a Los Angeles morgue. The cause of death is still unclear. She has no visible injuries and wounds; except that the most intimate parts of her body are stitched with thick black thread. But what shocks the coroner the most is the fact that the killer left something inside her. Something so monstrous that Detective Robert Hunter is pulled from another ongoing case to take over this investigation. A second body appears in a few days. Just like the first victim, this one is stitched up and has something left inside. Something as ingenious as it is grotesque. And the killer is not done, far from it. When he stumbles upon the attractive and terrifyingly capable private detective Whitney Myers, Hunter begins to suspect that the killer is holding several women hostage at the same time, as the woman Myers is looking for has been reported as a missing person, but is not yet one of the victims. Robert soon learns that he is chasing a real monster; a monster whose past hides an even more monstrous secret.
