Therapy and prevention of vitamin B6 deficiency disorders: microcytic and hypochromic anemia, convulsions in newborns, polyneuritis and neuropathies during therapy with drugs containing isoniazid, penicillamine, hydralazine and cycloserine. Reduced concentrations of vitamin B6 are usually present in diets, uremia, alcoholism, cirrhosis, hyperparathyroidism, malabsorptive syndrome, in patients with heart failure, long-term hemodialysis, as well as in genetic disorders in amino acid metabolism. Increased needs of vitamin B 6 occur in geriatric patients, pregnancy and lactation, and in long-term use of hormonal contraceptives. Other indications: acne, seborrheic dermatitis, hyperlipidemia, irradiation, hyperemesis gravidarum, premenstrual syndrome, vertigo, hyperkinetic syndrome in children, hyperoxaluria, pyridoxine dependence in children.
