Meet Robert Hunter, the youngest homicide detective to ever work for the Los Angeles Police Department – and on his first day on the job. As if to an inexperienced beginner, they give him a simple case of suicide. But when he arrives at the scene, he immediately begins to suspect that something is not right. Despite the fact that the front door is locked and bolted from the inside, and there is absolutely no other way out of the apartment, Hunter has a hunch that the victim did not commit suicide. With all the evidence against him, his new boss doesn't want to hear about experiments, so Hunter has a difficult task to prove if he wants to solve the case and keep his place on the team.
