For soothing cough and easier expectoration. Properties and purpose: Hederin syrup contains dry extracts of ivy leaves (Hederae folii extractum siccum) which contains 4-5% triterpene saponins of which hederacoside c and alpha hederin help with expectoration and relaxation of the bronchial muscles. Ivy leaf belongs to the group of reflex plant expectorants. After contact with the gastric mucosa, these expectorants cause reflex stimulation of tracheal mucus production. Because of this, the thick and sticky secretion, which irritated the mucous membrane causing a cough, is diluted and becomes more liquid, which facilitates its expectoration. Simultaneously with the relaxation of the bronchial muscles, the cough subsides.
